The Beach House at Blackbeard’s Hideout – St George’s Club

Edward Teach, better known as Blackbeard, chose a secluded cove as a hideout from Governor Eden of North Carolina in 1718. It is upon this spot that The Beach House at Blackbeard’s Hideout now stands. Offering fantastic views of historic Fort St Catherine and the crystalline waters of Achilles Bay, this is one of the best locations in Bermuda to enjoy a memorable and relaxing meal that comes with a stunning sunset.

Recently renovated to give a chic new look, the restaurant offers the sophisticated and casual ambience of a private beach house. Guests can savour a delicious meal or cocktail on the patio as the sun sets over the bay, with live entertainment being provided in the high season.

Lunch is a fairly casual affair here, with a menu of light meals and snacks on offer which includes a variety of salads and sandwiches, seafood dishes, speciality burgers and pasta dishes.

The Beach House is transformed by night into a chic eaterie, with a wide array of tantalizing dinner options available. The appetizer menu includes a selection of soups and salads, Bermuda Onion Tart, Fried Conch served in a soft taco with Pico Di Gallo and sour cream, and a Mixed Seafood Ceviche of mussels, clams, calamari, rockfish and wahoo in citrus juices and olive oil, served with cilantro.

For their main course, diners can choose from many seafood dishes, including Rock and A Hard Place, which is fresh rockfish simmered in white wine and ocean water with tomatoes, basil and olive oil, served with boiled potatoes. Wahooooooo is fresh seared wahoo with creamed potato mash, burnt orange reduction, and seasonal steamed vegetables. The menu also features a number of mussel dishes, Angus Steak dishes, and Grilled Lamb Cutlets in garlic and rosemary, served with sautéed baby spinach and creamed potato mash. Pasta dishes include Ravioli of the day and Seafood Pasta.

There is a complimentary shuttle to the restaurant from the St George’s Club or the old town pier.
