Explore Bermuda’s underground terrain on this private caves tour which lasts a little over an hour. Then spend 2 hours at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute (BUEI). You will leave with a better understanding of the world’s oceans and their biodiversity of plant and animal life after your BUEI Tour and it is just a cool thing to explore Bermuda’s caves.
After spending 2 hours at BUEI along with your time at the caves and driving between the two locations, the total tour time is 4 1/2 hours. Your driver will offer commentary about Bermuda on the drive and all of our tour guides and knowledgeable and friendly. You are sure to have a great and memorable time.
At the BUEI, you will learn about the invasive species on the lion fish and how it is affecting the juvenile reef fish and disrupting reef ecosystems in Bermuda and around the Caribbean. You will learn about the ceder tree grove found 30 feet below the surface on the underwater ledge surrounding Bermuda. It grew when sea levels were that much lower around 7,300 years ago.
There are over 1,200 shells on exhibit, with other exhibits as well, such as one teaching you how the ocean heals itself over time, and another that explains the different ocean phenomena, including why scientists believe to be the reasons for the missing ships in the Bermuda Triangle.
Cost includes the entry fee to both the BUEI and the Caves.
