    Situated on the South Shore of the island, a five-minute drive past the legendary Horseshoe Bay beach, The Reefs is blessed with its own private stretch of coastline. The Reefs is located near a number of sites on the island. A short stroll away is the Gibbs’ Hill Lighthouse. Just up the road is Church Bay Park, often mentioned as the best snorkeling spot on the island. Across the street from the hotel, you can rent bicycles and bike on the non-motorized Railway Trail that snakes through the entire 21-mile long island. A quick taxi ride will bring you to the Spicelands Equestrian Centre and the chance to go horseback riding on trails in South Shore Park, perched above many of the island’s spectacular pink-sand beaches. Back at the hotel you can find the resort also houses two swimming pools, three restaurants, tennis courts, and a shuffleboard court. The exterior’s pink walls and traditional white roofs give off a very Bermudian first impression, while inside, the simple lobby is made elegant with crisp marble flooring and dark wood furniture. Staff members greet guests with Rum Swizzles.

    Coconuts is a casual beachfront restaurant that serves lunch and dinner. Menu items include classic bar food likes wings and quesadillas, upscale sandwiches and salads, and dinner additions like steaks and chops. Unfortunately, Coconuts is only open seasonally.

    Aqua Tera is the hotel’s upscale dinner option. Adjacent to Ocean Echo, but with a slightly more sophisticated setting and its own bar, Aqua Terra serves international cuisine with a focus on local ingredients. Additionally, Aqua Terra is where the hotel hosts its free daily afternoon tea service. The tea service includes a wide selection of teas, and personal plates of goodies such as tuna and cucumber sandwiches, mini cupcakes, and fresh scones.

COTTAGE AMENITIES

Located around 300 meters away from the main hotel are a few cottages that are available for booking. Their names are Sandpiper, Sea Melody, & Southbreakers. The cottages have the same amenities as the rooms and suites. The main difference is that they are larger, have more beds/bathrooms, and private lawns.

  • Thursday night BBQ on the beach, $63.45 per person (includes gratuities)
  • The majority of The Reefs room rates include a free breakfast plan. There is also a room only rate which the breakfast plan would be an additional $29.25 per person, per day including gratuities. Also, if booked under the room only rate, if a guest would like to add on the MAP plan, it would be an additional $87.75 per person, per night including gratuities.:
  • MAP Plan only available to guests who can commit to purchasing the plan for a minimum of 3 consecutive nights or more.

After You Confirm Booking With Us:

  • After you’ve picked up all your luggage, and you exit the customs area of the airport, you will walk out towards the exit of the airport through a set of double doors. Here you will find our drivers straight ahead with a sign with your name on it. Once you connect with them, from here, they will help you with your luggage to their vehicle, and transport you to your hotel.
  • In order to plan for flight delays, Thinking of Bermuda staff, as well as our transportation partners, watch your flight arrival time online. If there are any delays with your flight, we will still be there to pick you up no matter what time. We will be there for you when you arrive.

Hotels Near the Beach
Church Bay

0.5 miles/ 850 meters | One of the best beaches on the island to snorkel from, due to the coral reef being so close to the beach, which is surrounded by picturesque cliffs. A secluded place to unwind. But be careful snorkeling here, as there are no lifeguards and riptides can take you far out from which you’ll need to escape from. See more about how to get out of a riptide here. Avoid snorkeling during south or southwest winds due to strong currents on the South Shore. Check the local weather forecast for up to date information.

Hidden Beach

1.5 miles/ 2.4 kilometers | Tucked between Horseshoe Bay Beach and Chaplin Bay Beach, Hidden Beach is a secluded white sand paradise. The wide beach serves as a large playing area for kids, while stronger swimmers can venture out to snorkel around the rocks. It doesn’t get much traffic, so it’s a prime spot for a romantic getaway.

Horseshoe Bay

1.6 miles/ 2.5 kilometers | Perhaps the island’s most famous beach, classic Horseshoe Bay Beach is a postcard-perfect picture of everything visitors imagine when they think about Bermuda – a large pink sand beach, gem-like blue waters, and limestone rock formations ready for exploring. To the right of Horseshoe Bay Beach is a much smaller enclosed beach, Baby Beach. This smaller beach is enclosed away from the waves, creating a perfect spot for babies and young children. At the kiosk, rent towels, beach chairs, umbrellas, and other lounging equipment – or snorkeling equipment and boogie boards to get active in the water. There is also a full bar, Rum Bum Beach Bar and restaurant serving burgers, fries, and other grilled & fried finger foods. There is ice cream too!

Chaplin Bay

1.6 miles/ 2.6 kilometers | One of the best beaches on the island to find seclusion. This beach is surrounded by picturesque cliffs and is the perfect tucked away beach to unwind. We can rent and deliver umbrellas, chairs, towels, coolers, and food & drinks here for your own party. Just show up!

Stonehole Bay

1.7 miles/ 2.7 kilometers | Often referred to as the twin beach of Chaplin Bay, Stonehole Bay is a true gem on the south shore. It’s surrounded by rocky cliffs and rock formations that go out into the ocean to create a barrier to the other beaches left and right of it, and the sand develops a deeper pink color toward the edge of the water. Check on the tide before you visit – much of the beach becomes inaccessible during high tide and you need to get wet to get here if you come from Horseshoe Bay. If you come from the Stonehole Bay parking lot, you are OK to come through here at any tide.

Jobson’s Cove

1.9 miles/ 3.1 kilometers | Follow the pink sands of the beach down to a small cove that’s almost totally closed off from the sea by cliffs, creating a safe place for kids to snorkel and look for fish. The water is gentle and calm and the cliffs block much of the wind.

Warwick Long Bay

1.9 miles/ 3.1 kilometers | This half-mile stretch of pink sand is one of Bermuda’s longest beaches. Snorkel near the bay or explore the coral reefs off the beach. A lunch cart visits the nearby park during the summer, but doesn’t have set hours. This is a secluded beach where you should find lots of space for you and your group.

Whale Bay

2.4 miles/ 3.9 kilometers | Visit in March or April to spot schools of migrating humpback whales offshore. However, even if you miss the migration season, Whale Bay is a top destination for wildlife observation. During low tide, the coral reefs and the beautiful fish inhabiting them are easily accessible from the shore for snorkelers. Since this beach isn’t monitored by a lifeguard, be careful and always go out in partners. You can also visit the fort on top of the hill for an added adventure. Find Whale Bay Road across the street from the bus stop on Middle Road and take a 10-minute walk towards the very end of that road and the beach is the far back right of the field/park.

Astwood Cove Beach

2.9 miles/ 4.7 kilometers | This stunning, secluded beach is surrounded by steep cliffs that are home to local birds. Hike down the winding trail to a romantic beach that’s perfect for couples.

Hog Bay Beach

3.4 miles/ 5.4 kilometers | This really is more of an adventure than a beach. The beach is tiny, but the journey through Hog Bay Park is fun. Reach this well-kept secret through a rocky, wooded trail from the car park in Hog Bay Park to the shoreline. A true gem for snorkeling and swimming, Hog Bay Beach is also a destination for seashells and turtles that are attracted to the seagrass in the area close to the shore. Check out the rock pools to see crabs and other small fish trapped with the tides.

Elbow Beach

4.4 miles/ 7.1 kilometers | Named after a gentle curve that resembles an elbow, this pink sand beach on the famous South Shore hosts an aquarium-like variety of fish around the small breakers a short swim from the shoreline. Part of the beach is owned by Elbow Beach Resort, but the public section is quite a large beach and is popular with both tourists and locals. Rent paddleboards and other equipment from a watersports center in the hotel or explore the Pollockshields shipwreck with an escorted kayak – strong swimmers only, as this wreck is 200 feet from shore.

Gibb’s Hill Lighthouse

0.6 miles/0.9 km – The 117-foot cast-iron lighthouse is one of the oldest of its kind in the world, dating from 1846. Climb up the 185 steps for a vast panoramic view of the shoreline up and down Bermuda. Stop on the eight floors on your way to the top to learn about the tower and the history of Bermuda from a series of mini exhibits. A bronze plate on the road marks Queen Elizabeth II’s 1953 visit.

Dive Bermuda – Fairmont Southampton

1.1 miles/1.8 km – This top-ranked destination is one of the island’s premier dive centers. Whether you’re embarking on your first dive or looking to gain your instructor certification, Dive Bermuda is ready for you. Daily one- and two-tank excursions are an exciting way to examine historic shipwrecks and tropical fish up close and right off the famous South Shore.

2.4 miles/3.9 km – The original fort dates from the mid-1700s, with the Battery added in 1876. It overlooks the West Whale Bay Beach and provides a wide view of the south coast that’s perfect for photos. The fort no longer exists, but you can still enter the battery to see the old troop barracks and the underground storage rooms for shells and cartridges. The park around the fort has benches and picnic tables where you can enjoy a relaxing ocean view.

Blue Water Divers & Watersports

3.6 miles/5.7 km – The island’s longest-running PADI dive center offers lessons for every diving skill level from beginner to assistant instructor. Join the professional driving instructors and a small group of divers to explore Bermuda’s rich marine ecosystem, including gorgeous reefs and historical wrecks.

Fort Scaur

4.2 miles/6.8 km – Fort Scaur was built in the 1870s to defend the island from land-based attacks from the south shore, a vestige of the former tensions between the British and the Americans. It’s barely visible from sea, but the free telescope means you can get a great view of landmarks at Bermuda’s eastern end, like St. David’s Lighthouse. The view of the Great Sound is also a must-see, as are the weather stone and the 22-acre park.

Due to the cliff-side location, are there a lot of stairs throughout the property?

Generally speaking, there are a good amount of stairs at the Resort. Depending on your room location, you could have some or many stairs to climb.

How many levels/floors does the resort have?

The resort’s property has 2 floors. If your room is located on the 2nd floor, stairs would be required to access the room. No elevators are available on-site.

Are there shows or nightclubs near the resort?

From April to October The Reefs Resort offers live entertainment 5-nights a week, including singers, bands and DJ’s! During other times of the year, you can visit nightclubs in Hamilton, which is only 15-20 minutes away by taxi.

Is the resort close to any golf courses?

Yes, the Resort is within 10 minutes to Turtle Hill, Port Royal, and Belmont Hills Golf Courses.

Is the pool heated during the winter season?

Yes, the pool is heated so that it can be enjoyed by guests all year long.
