NEARBY BEACHES

Hotels Near the Beach
Elbow Beach

0.8 miles/1.3 km | Named after a gentle curve that resembles an elbow, this pink sand beach on the famous South Shore hosts an aquarium-like variety of fish around the small breakers a short swim from the shoreline. Part of the beach is owned by Elbow Beach Resort, but the public section is quite a large beach and is popular with both tourists and locals. Rent paddleboards and other equipment from a watersports center in the hotel or explore the Pollockshields shipwreck with an escorted kayak – strong swimmers only, as this wreck is 200 feet from shore.

Warwick Long Bay

3.1 miles/5.0 km | This half-mile stretch of pink sand is one of Bermuda’s longest beaches. Snorkel near the bay or explore the coral reefs off the beach. A lunch cart visits the nearby park during the summer, but doesn’t have set hours. This is a secluded beach where you should find lots of space for you and your group.

Stonehole Bay

3.2 miles/5.1 km | Often referred to as the twin beach of Chaplin Bay, Stonehole Bay is a true gem on the south shore. It’s surrounded by rocky cliffs and rock formations that go out into the ocean to create a barrier to the other beaches left and right of it, and the sand develops a deeper pink color toward the edge of the water. Check on the tide before you visit – much of the beach becomes inaccessible during high tide and you need to get wet to get here if you come from Horseshoe Bay. If you come from the Stonehole Bay parking lot, you are OK to come through here at any tide.

Deep Bay

4.2 miles/6.7 km |

Head over to Admiralty House to find this small beach a little out the way on Bermuda’s north shore. Deep Bay is more for someone looking to jump off the cliffs around the beach or explore the caves nearby, but the beach does offer a place to relax and a shallow area to swim. Go for a swim in the warm blue water or scale the steep rocks that make Deep Bay a popular climbing area. You can also see cruise ships heading to Hamilton Harbor or Dockyard.

Categories: Cliff Jumping | Secluded Beach

Horseshoe Bay

4.9 miles/7.9 km | Perhaps the island’s most famous beach, classic Horseshoe Bay Beach is a postcard-perfect picture of everything visitors imagine when they think about Bermuda – a large pink sand beach, gem-like blue waters, and limestone rock formations ready for exploring. To the right of Horseshoe Bay Beach is a much smaller enclosed beach, Baby Beach. This smaller beach is enclosed away from the waves, creating a perfect spot for babies and young children. At the kiosk, rent towels, beach chairs, umbrellas, and other lounging equipment – or snorkeling equipment and boogie boards to get active in the water. There is also a full bar, Rum Bum Beach Bar and restaurant serving burgers, fries, and other grilled & fried finger foods. There is ice cream too!

Jobson’s Cove

4.9 miles/7.9 km | Follow the pink sands of the beach down to a small cove that’s almost totally closed off from the sea by cliffs, creating a safe place for kids to snorkel and look for fish. The water is gentle and calm and the cliffs block much of the wind.

A wishing well and a lily pond with a Bermuda island map round out the experience.

The free museum is housed in the Georgian-era home of William Bennett Perot, the former postmaster for the City of Hamilton.

Verdmont

3.2 miles/5.1 km – This fascinating old house features a rare combination of traditional 17th-century dwelling style and 18th-century Georgian mansion design. It has remained nearly unchanged structurally for nearly 300 years and features an impressive antique collection that ranges from Bermudian cedar furniture, English and Chinese porcelain, and a period-style nursery. An attic display explores the home’s architecture and the lives of the people who lived there.

Spittal Pond Nature Reserve

3.9 miles/6.3 km – Covering 64 acres, Spittal Pond Nature Reserve is Bermuda’s largest and most premium nature reserve and national park. The 8-acre Spittal Pond sits in the center, surrounded by marsh and woodland. Follow the winding trail through all sorts of wildflowers and trees (including olivewoods, spice trees and Mexican pepper trees) to take in vast views over the South Shore.

Admiralty House Park

3.9 miles/6.3 km – Built on the site of a former home for admirals of the British Royal Navy, this small park near Spanish Point is full of opportunities to explore, including walking trails, ruins and a beach surrounded by limestone cliffs. Hidden underground tunnels once served as discreet entrances to the home. A pathway leads to the top of the cliffs, where you can take in a scenic view or jump into the waters.

Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo

4.3 miles/7 km – The animal habitat exhibits at this seven-acre Flatts Village destination focus on oceanic island species, including more than 200 species of fish and marine invertebrates and over 300 birds, reptiles and mammals. It is popular with both kids and adults.

Gibbs Hill Lighthouse

Climb up the 185 steps for a vast panoramic view of the shoreline up and down Bermuda. Stop on the eight floors on your way to the top to learn about the tower and the history of Bermuda from a series of mini-exhibits. A bronze plate on the road marks Queen Elizabeth II’s 1953 visit.
