Here you will find our drivers straight ahead with a sign with your name on it. Beaches Near to Royal Palms
Deep Bay

1.3 miles/ 2.1 kilometers |

Head over to Admiralty House to find this small beach a little out the way on Bermuda’s north shore. Deep Bay is more for someone looking to jump off the cliffs around the beach or explore the caves nearby, but the beach does offer a place to relax and a shallow area to swim. Go for a swim in the warm blue water or scale the steep rocks that make Deep Bay a popular climbing area. You can also see cruise ships heading to Hamilton Harbor or Dockyard.

Elbow Beach

3.6 miles/ 5.8 kilometers | Named after a gentle curve that resembles an elbow, this pink sand beach on the famous South Shore hosts an aquarium-like variety of fish around the small breakers a short swim from the shoreline. Part of the beach is owned by Elbow Beach Resort, but the public section is quite a large beach and is popular with both tourists and locals. Rent paddleboards and other equipment from a watersports center in the hotel or explore the Pollockshields shipwreck with an escorted kayak – strong swimmers only, as this wreck is 200 feet from shore.

John Smith’s Bay

5.9 miles/ 9.5 kilometers | Pale pink sand, interesting rock formations, and clear, tranquil water awaits you at this quiet beach. The beautiful reefs just off the beach offer great snorkeling and the lunch cart that sell snacks and drinks during the summer offers a break from the hot sun. A lifeguard is on duty during the summer.

Bermuda Historical Society Museum

0.6 miles/0.9 km – Bermuda’s 400-year history comes alive with maps, antique furnishings, portraits, historical documents and other artifacts illustrating the country’s rich history. Highlights include the sea chest and portrait of Sir George Somers, one of the sailors who wrecked on and then colonized Bermuda. The free museum is housed in the Georgian-era home of William Bennett Perot, the former postmaster for the City of Hamilton.

Fort Hamilton

1.2 miles/1.9 km – This picturesque fort was built in the 1870s to protect Hamilton Harbour. Now it’s the perfect vantage point to look out over lush gardens and the rooftops of Hamilton. Enjoy a picnic on the landscaped upper levels and check out the cannons and ramparts, as well as a former moat that has since become a tropical garden.

Admiralty House Park

1.3 miles/2.1 km – Built on the site of a former home for admirals of the British Royal Navy, this small park near Spanish Point is full of opportunities to explore, including walking trails, ruins and a beach surrounded by limestone cliffs. Hidden underground tunnels once served as discreet entrances to the home. A pathway leads to the top of the cliffs, where you can take in a scenic view or jump into the waters.

Ocean Discovery Centre | BUEI

1.3 miles/2.2 km – A project of the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute (BUEI), the Ocean Discovery Centre is dedicated to educating visitors about the wonders of the ocean. There’s something to thrill every member of the family here, from an enthralling interactive exploration of the Bermuda Triangle to a literal treasure trove of items rescued from shipwrecks. You can even test your sailing skills and train on grinding and racing simulators in the America’s Cup sailing exhibit.

Waterville

1.7 miles/2.7 km – Waterville is a gorgeous Georgian-style building built in 1725 for the Trimingham family. It now houses the head office of the Bermuda National Trust and an exhibition that takes you back in time to 18th century Bermuda. View collections of antiques, china, and oil portraits, as well as an antique grandfather clock. The Heritage Rose Garden on the front lawn welcomes guests with several old varieties of roses. A tiny islet on-site is a favorite of herons and waterfowl.

Bermuda Botanical Gardens

2 miles/3.2 km – This 35-acre park is more than a century old and is famous for its collection of flowers, trees, shrubs, and other plants. Take the thrice-weekly walking tour or explore on your own to see the subtropical fruit trees, Banyan trees, hibiscus, the aviary, and glass structures that house cacti, orchids, and manicured gardens. A sensory garden features aromatic flora so that blind visitors can experience the park’s bounty.

Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art

2.1 miles/3.3 km – See Bermuda through the eyes of artists as diverse as Georgia O’Keeffe, Winslow Homer and Albert Gleizes at this museum, which was created to foster an understanding of Bermudian history and culture and enrich the community with art education. Paintings range from lush landscapes to the Bermudian people and the island’s cultural heritage. Collections celebrate Bermuda’s intrinsic beauty through creations by Bermudian and international artists.

Palm Grove Gardens

3 miles/4.8 km – This beautifully manicured 18-acre garden is privately owned, but opens to the public Monday through Thursday. Lush palm, palmetto, Sago, and coconut trees and limestone huts dot the grounds. An aviary houses quite a few parrots. Just married? Walk through the moongate for good luck. A wishing well and a lily pond with a Bermuda island map round out the experience.

Verdmont

3.9 miles/6.3 km – This fascinating old house features a rare combination of traditional 17th-century dwelling style and 18th-century Georgian mansion design. It has remained nearly unchanged structurally for nearly 300 years and features an impressive antique collection that ranges from Bermudian cedar furniture, English and Chinese porcelain, and a period-style nursery. An attic display explores the home’s architecture and the lives of the people who lived there.

Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo

4.4 miles/7.2 km – The animal habitat exhibits at this seven-acre Flatts Village destination focus on oceanic island species, including more than 200 species of fish and marine invertebrates and over 300 birds, reptiles and mammals. It is popular with both kids and adults.

Spittal Pond Nature Reserve

4.7 miles/7.5 km – Covering 64 acres, Spittal Pond Nature Reserve is Bermuda’s largest and most premium nature reserve and national park. The 8-acre Spittal Pond sits in the center, surrounded by marsh and woodland. Follow the winding trail through all sorts of wildflowers and trees (including olivewoods, spice trees, and Mexican pepper trees) to take in vast views over the South Shore.
